Dedham residents are invited to attend a free community celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 15, 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Dedham Middle School.
Sponsored by the Dedham Public Schools Equity and Inclusion Task Force, the event will feature music, dance, readings and a keynote address from The Honorable Charles Walker, Jr., Esq. former Commissioner of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), whose father was a Tuskegee Airman during World War II.
Food for the event has been generously donated by Blue Ribbon Barbecue, Star Market, Café Fresh Bagel, Big Bear, The Salem Food Market, Starbucks and Dailey & Borsellino PC.
Entertainment will feature a jazz trio composed of recent Dedham High School graduates, along with selections from the Dedham High School band and chorus under the direction of Jeff Bolduc (band) and Nate Haywood (chorus). Tanya’s Dance School will offer a performance and local poet, Deana Tavares, will read from her works.
This family friendly event will also feature a children’s craft table staffed by local Dedham Girl Scout Troop 69212.
All are welcome to enjoy this free family event in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and work.
