You Are Invited to This Free Community Event

6th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration

When: Monday, January 16, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Where: Dedham Middle School, 70 Whiting Avenue Dedham, MA 02026

What: Join us for a free community celebration to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., his dedication to social activism, and his pivotal role in the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Performances by Tanya's Dance Studio, Dedham Choral Society, Michael Thompson and the Dedham High School Band, Joseph Borsellino Jr. and the Dedham High School Jazz Band, and jazz musicians, including Antonio Irons.

Community Celebration includes:

  • Food and other items provided by Café Bagel, Halfway Café, MIT Endicott House, Salem Food Market, Wegmans, Midway Cafe, Blue Ribbon BBQ, Kings, Ocean State Job Lot, and Dunkin' Donuts
  • Keynote Address by Edith Bazile: Noted educational consultant and advocate for educational justice
  • Essays and Art by Dedham Students: Created based on theme "On Whose Shoulders Do We Stand?"

This event is sponsored by the Dedham Human Rights Commission and is supported in part by a grant from the Dedham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
