About the Committee

The Dedham Town Charter is the legal document that established the Town and outlines the process by which the Town is governed. The Charter lays out the Town’s form of government, the Town Meeting process, the powers of the Town Manager and elected or appointed boards, and general finance and fiscal procedures, and other policies. It is generally deemed good practice to review the charter on a regular basis. 

Every five years (for years ending in "0"), the Board of Selectmen appoints a Charter Review Committee that is charged with reviewing the Town's bylaws and making recommendations back to the Board, as defined by Town Charter, Article 7.

Members

The Charter Review Committee has at least five members, all registered voters in Dedham, who are appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Members of the 2020 Committee include:

Town boards and committees are staffed by volunteers who may not be available during business hours. If you need a response during business hours, please contact the Town Manager's office. 

Meetings

The Charter Review Committee meets as needed. Public meeting dates and times are posted at Town Hall and the Dedham Public Library at least 48 hours before each meeting in compliance with the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Meeting agendas will also be posted on this website.

 

 

The Board of Assessors meets on the third Thursday of each month, but not on even-numbered days.
