Broken Trash Cart/Replacement
To schedule a repair or replacement of a broken trash or recycling cart, please call Boston Carting Services, LLC at 800-338-3867.
Recycling Collection
- Single Stream Recycling: Single Stream recycling allows residents to combine ALL recyclables (paper, cardboard, bottles and cans) into one cart for collection.
- Additional Recycling Cart Requests: Each household is limited to one recycling cart.
- Schedule: Recycling collection follows a bi-weekly schedule. Please refer to the annual trash and recycling calendar (downloadable at the top of this page) for details.
- Missed Collections: Please call Boston Carting Services, LLC at 800-338-3867.
Solid Waste (Trash) Collection
- New Hauler: As of July 1, 2022, the Town has contracted with Boston Carting Services, LLC. for curbside collection. To speak with a representative, please call 800-338-3867.
- Schedule: Trash collection follows a weekly schedule. Please refer to the annual trash and recycling calendar (downloadable at the top of this page) for details. Trash must be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on your trash day.
- Additional Trash Cart Requests: Each household is limited to one trash cart and one recycling cart. Please use overflow bags for excess household trash.
- Overflow Bags/Excess Household Trash: The Town has contracted with Boston Carting Services, LLC. and WasteZero to provide an option for Dedham residents to dispose of excess household trash.
Residents should place their household trash in their Town-issued trash cart. Trash that does not fit into the cart can be placed in official overflow bags.
Official overflow bags, 30-gallon yellow bags with the Town seal, can be used to dispose of excess household trash ONLY. Official overflow bags are available for purchase at the following local retailers for $2.00/bag in sleeves of five:

Yard Waste Collection
- Schedule: Yard waste is collected bi-weekly, on recycling day, on a seasonal basis according to the annual trash and recycling calendar (on page 3) or by visiting our new Yard Waste page.
- What is accepted?: Leaves, grass and other easily raked material. Branches and small brush must be less than 3-inches in diameter and cut into 3-foot lengths, bundled and tied. Branches larger than that should still be cut down and disposed of through a private contractor.
- What do we need to do?: Place items in paper yard bags (available for purchase at grocery & home improvement stores) or loose in open barrels, curbside. Do not mix yard waste and household items. No Plastic Bags.

Textile Recycling
The Town of Dedham has partnered with CMRK/Big Brother Big Sister of New England to provide textile collection bins and FREE curbside collections of household items (not including furniture and mattresses).
- Bring clothing and shoes to blue collection bins, located in parking lots at Dedham elementary schools and middle school
- Call 508-466-4590 to schedule FREE curbside collection
Other Recycling Drop-Off
- Recycling Events: Recycling Events are typically held by the Sustainability Advisory Committee twice per year. These events will be posted on the online calendar with details about what will be accepted once they are scheduled.
- Other Recycling Drop off locations for numerous electronics, batteries, CFL's, mattresses, linens and more are listed on the How to Recycle in Dedham page
- The DPW holds monthly cardboard recycling events, third Saturday of the month from 9AM to Noon, for Dedham residents to recycle all flattened cardboard boxes outside of the regular collection schedule. Listed below are the 2023 dates* and a PDF flyer for download:

Recycling Food & Water
- Compost Bins: Earth Machine Compost bins are available for purchase each spring through the Town Manager's Office. Please call 781-751-9100 to add your name to list.
- What can be composted? Almost everything in your kitchen and yard can be composted; fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, egg shells, grass clippings, leaves, plant trimmings, cut flowers, and more. Visit our How to Recycle in Dedham page to learn more about composting
- Rain Barrels: Save useful rain water and conserve drinking water while saving money on your water bill. Rain Barrels are available for purchase from the Dedham Westwood Water District.
Hazardous Waste Collection
Collection of hazardous waste is handled by the Health Department, with special days and times for collection. Please contact the Health Department for more information on upcoming collection events.
