With the Single-Stream Recycling program, you do not need to sort paper, metal, plastics and cardboard. These items can be combined in your recycling cart.

Boston Carting Services, LLC. will collect bulky items and white goods BY APPOINTMENT at the curb. Please call 617-541-4009 to schedule a collection and pay the fee. The collection fees for each item are listed below:

• Bulky Items = $30.00
• White Goods = $35.00

The Town has contracted with Boston Carting Services, LLC. and WasteZero to provide an option for Dedham residents to dispose of excess household trash.

Residents should place their household trash in their Town-issued trash cart. Trash that does not fit into the cart can be placed in official overflow bags.

Official overflow bags, 30-gallon yellow bags with the Town seal, can be used to dispose of excess household trash ONLY. Official overflow bags are available for purchase at the following local retailers for $2.00/bag in sleeves of five: 

• Star Market - 795 Providence Highway
• Stop & Shop - 160 Providence Highway
• Terri's Market - 12 Louise Road
• 7-Eleven - 77 Cedar Street

Each household is limited to one recycling cart.

Listed below are potential reasons why your trash or recycling were not picked up by Waste Management:

• Carts were not placed outside by 7:00 a.m., therefore it was not picked up.
  • Both Trash and Recycling carts must be placed outside no later than 7:00 a.m. on your designated pickup day 
  • Review the Boston Carting Services, LLC. schedule online.
• Carts were placed less than 3 feet apart, so the arm could not reach the individual carts.
• Carts were not placed on the curb with the opening of the lids facing the street.
• Cart lid was not able to close because bags of trash were piled higher than the top of the cart.
• Carts or bins placed outside are not those provided by the Town.
  • Only recycling and trash in carts provided by the Town will be picked up.
• Carts were blocked by a parked car.
• Recyclables were mixed in with trash.

Only official Town of Dedham overflow bags will be collected outside of your cart. The overflow bags are sold at local retailers (listed above under "What do I do if I have more trash than fits in the cart?") for $2.00 each in sleeves of five.
