Town of Dedham
Home MenuConservation & Environmental Protection
The Town is committed to conserving land and protecting our environment. The Conservation department, along with the Conservation Commission and Sustainability Advisory Committee do a great deal of work and provide services to that end.
- Wetland Protection: The Conservation Commission in coordination with our Conservation Department work to enforce the state Wetland Protection rules as well as local bylaws that Dedham has in place to protect our natural resources.
- Composting: To meet residential composting needs, a limited number of compost bins are available for purchase through the Environmental Department each year. More information on composting is available on the town's recycling page.
- Energy Conservation and Efficiency: Dedham's Sustainability Advisory Committee works with municipal departments and the community to encourage energy conservation and smart energy choices in our community through use of Solar Energy.
- Rain Barrel Program: Rain Barrels are available for purchase through the Dedham-Westwood Water District, which help conserve water and reduce runoff. See the Dedham Westwood Water District's website for more information.
- Stormwater Management: Educating residents on the impact of stormwater pollution that ends up in our water bodies. Many residential projects have stormwater permitting requirements to curb potential impacts. This is enforced by our Conservation Department.
